Winning the Release of an ICE Detainee

New York Associate Thi Hoang Ho, who previously worked in DOJ’s Immigration Review Office in Los Angeles, recently secured the release of a Lawful Permanent Resident who had been detained for six months by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) at its New Jersey detention facility.

Ms. Ho represented the client in his removal (deportation) proceedings in Immigration Court, a DOJ administrative court. Ms.
Ho examined hearing witnesses and argued the merits against deportation before Immigration Judge Daniel A. Morris, who granted the application to cancel the removal order. ICE waived appeal, and Ms. Ho’s client was released to return to his family and a productive life.
