Bobbie Bailey is the managing partner of Leader Berkon Colao & Silverstein’s Los Angeles office. In over twenty-five years as lead trial counsel, he has successfully tried dozens of complex cases in courtrooms across the country. He brings his unique style of interactive litigation to jury panels across the country, with extensive trial work in California, Missouri, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Oregon. Bobbie’s early trial work in civil rights litigation informs all his trial experience to date. He brings with him a deep conviction to accomplish the right outcome for his clients. Over the last twenty years, Bobbie has focused his practice on handling complex products liability, asbestos, and toxic tort litigation on behalf of companies and their insurers.

Immediately after graduation from the University of Missouri, he accepted a commission in the United States Navy, where he served as a Surface Warfare Officer for six years. Upon leaving active duty, Bobbie attended law school – peacefully until being recalled to active duty for service during Operation Desert Storm – the first Iraq War.

Bobbie’s speaking engagements include return appearances at the DRI’s Asbestos Medicine seminars in San Diego and Las Vegas and Perrin Conferences’ Cutting-Edge Issues in Asbestos Litigation conference in Beverly Hills.

Employment Litigation
His experience includes resolving hundreds of employment cases on behalf of individuals, trying half a dozen cases to verdict as first chair. Additionally, he served as the chairman for the Kansas City, Missouri School District’s Advisory Committee Task Force from March to August 2002 while the district was attempting to resolve one of the largest desegregation cases in the country. Bobbie served as a Hearing Examiner for the Office of Civil Rights, Kansas City, Missouri Human Rights Commission from March 2000 to January 2003. Bobbie continues to handle employment disputes on behalf of employers in the Los Angeles area.
Product Liability
He has defended government contractors working for the U.S. Navy, aircraft part manufacturers, shipyards and shipbuilders, and oil companies.
Asbestos Litigation

In a reverse bifurcated asbestos trial in Philadelphia, Bobbie’s efforts during the damages phase of trial resulted in a verdict of only slightly over $1 million during a period in which most Philadelphia asbestos verdicts were in the eight figures, enabling Bobbie’s client to resolve the case for a fraction of the final demand before verdict.

Bobbie tried to verdict the first asbestos case filed against an employer in Philadelphia.  The decedent’s only identified source of exposure to asbestos was through 40 years of work at Bobbie’s client’s facility. As the sole defendant at verdict, Bobbie was able to limit his client’s liability to a verdict millions of dollars below typical Philadelphia asbestos verdicts and seven figures lower than the plaintiff’s final settlement demand.
